You’ve got a few demos recorded, a couple of professional photos of your band, and a story to tell. If you’re ready to share your project with the world, the next step is to create your own music website.
Featuring a full-page header image that floats beneath your content, and plenty of additional customization options like overlays, borders, and page positioning, the new Tone template is perfect if you want to simply plug and play, or customize a website to be uniquely yours.
Let’s dive into all of the options available with the diverse music website template, Tone.
Diving in, header first
If you have an outstanding band photo, a snapshot that shows your live energy, or intriguing album art, the Tone template is here to put a spin on your main image. Rather than set your main image into a block in the header area of your website, your image will appear in the background of your page. From there, your content will float above it. Before we dive into the options for your content, let’s explore the header options.
Since your main image will create a full background, the Tone header focuses on your navigation menu, social media icons, and site title area. You can set the sizing for these elements using header height controls for your Homepage, inner pages, and mobile screens. You can also add depth to the header canvas by adding a color and opacity for a translucent or solid effect.
When you get started on your music website, organizing your content into pages will help your fans navigate to your latest single, musician bio, EPK, and more. Your website pages appear in the menu across your site and with the Tone template, you can also feature social media links as stylized icons in your header area. If you’d like to prioritize how fans connect with your content, you can toggle the ‘Flip SWMS and menu’ option to swap the position of your menu buttons and social icons.
Add variety with overlays
Since your header image stays fixed in your page background, the Tone template offers you ways to get your content in focus with the section customization options. In your section styles, choose a section background color and use the slider to adjust the opacity between solid or completely translucent. You can customize up to three section styles, so feel free to experiment with colors from your main image or album art by incorporating the hues in your section background options.
You can also add an overlay in the page options of the Tone template. This overlay will sit overtop of your header image. You can choose a color that complements your image and adjust the opacity to your liking for a subtle overlay, or you can set the opacity to be completely translucent. This option becomes really interesting when you start adding the border options, which also allows for a color block or opaque hue.
Page positions and borders
Whether you want to let your main image take center stage, or you want your fans to laser focus on a tour announcement in your page content, the Tone template lets you customize the content width for both desktop and mobile.
On desktop devices, you can set your content to span half of the page or up to full-width.. For mobile devices, experiment by paring the content down to 80% so your content is still legible and your image peeks through.
You can go further with your page content customizations by aligning the content area to the left, center, or right of the page. This works especially well if the focal point of your main image is on the left side - set your content to the right to create an interesting scroll effect.
Another way to define your content with the Tone template is by adding borders. You can add an outer border and combine it with an inner border to augment your content area. Or, toggle one or both of the borders off if you want your content to glide fluidly over your header image.

Variations ready for launch
Each of our templates come with four variations to kick-start your website design. You can apply one of our in-house variations, or let them be a launching pad for your own customizations.
You can change your template at any time while retaining your content, so feel free to try out Tone on your website today and see how it suits your brand. Let’s take a look at the variations.
Neutral ground
The neutral variation of this template adds definition to your content with monochromatic overlays and section colors. The uppercase fonts of this variation make a visual impact that is perfect for a post-rock band with colossal riffs.
Playful palette
The playful variation places your menu at the top of your header area. It features a robin’s egg blue as a lively accent throughout. Fun fonts and square buttons make this variation a great choice for a pop artist.
Elegant choices
Combining steel blue and orange, the elegant variation would be a fabulous backdrop for an indie music project. This variation decreases the border sizes and background opacities of the Tone template, making it more feature focused.
Sombre stylings
The splattered, choppy title fonts coupled with the red and black atmospheric elements of the sombre variation makes it a great template choice for a hip-hop artist. This variation is dramatic, compelling, and ready for your content.
As a framework for the content your fans and industry professionals are looking for, there are oodles of options with the Tone template. If you’re getting ready to create your own music website or you want to change the look of your current website to promote a new venture, try out the Tone website template today.
