One very popular feature of Bandzoogle websites and EPK plans is the option to export a page as a PDF document. This allows you to create files that you can print, attach in an email, or add as a downloadable file on your music website.
We recently launched refinements to PDF page exports to make it easier than ever for you to generate stylish and professional PDFs directly from your website.
These new PDF export options were developed using the feedback and suggestions we received from Bandzoogle members, and we’re excited to announce that these changes are now available in your Bandzoogle account!
How to create a PDF
To make a PDF of any of your pages, log into your Bandzoogle website, then head to the Edit Content tab. Select the Pages menu, and choose the page you’d like to turn into a PDF. From there, click on the cog icon to access the page’s settings.
You’ll see ‘Export as PDF’ in the top corner as an option - click on that to open up the updated PDF editor.
What’s new
When you select the option to export a page as a PDF document, you will now see a preview of the PDF file. This file is formatted for print, and allows you to see page break approximations.
Within the the PDF preview you can adjust these new options:
- set the paper size to A4 or Letter
- change section padding (small / medium / large)
- show or hide section colors
- show or hide individual features
Perhaps most helpful of these new settings is the option to show or hide specific features and sections on the PDF document. This allows you to fine-tune the PDF document without having to change the features on your original page, so you can keep your EPK optimized for online views and prepare the export version to display only the features you want seen there.
Within the PDF export settings you’ll see a list of all the page features, and can toggle off the features you don’t want included in the PDF file, like here:
The preview panel also displays the total number of pages in your PDF file. If you want to keep the layout to one page (this is best for print!) you can hide features on the page to trim the content and get the document fitting nicely onto one A4 or Letter sheet.
Sharing your file
Once you’ve settled your file layout and clicked ‘Generate PDF’ you’ll see an option to download the PDF document directly to your computer. Each PDF file you export will automatically be added to the File Manager in your Bandzoogle account under the ‘Page PDFs’ tab, so you can access it any time. Every file in your File Manager is assigned its own URL, so you can easily share a file or link to it.
You can use the Call-to-Action feature to place a link to the file within the header of your website, or use the Button feature within the content section of any page. You can even add a Text feature to a page and place a link to the file in there.
This can be especially useful for technical sheets like stage plots and tech riders - once you’ve created those pages on your website, export them as PDF files to be linked on other site pages and within your press kit.
Press kits
The most widespread use of the PDF page export option is for making a copy of an EPK. Your downloadable press kit is a powerful tool when used in opportunities for discovery, networking, and career-enhancing connections, so don’t overlook it. Start by creating an EPK page that effectively showcases your music. Once that’s in place, export your EPK and strategically use your press kit PDF to promote your music.
You might want to attach your press kit to an email you’re sending to a venue to book a show, or submit it in your application for a festival gig. You might want to include a Onesheet when sending your music to a radio station or podcast creator, so that the hosts and producers deciding to play your music have details about you in hand.
You might be attending music conferences and playing showcases where you’d like to have prints of your press kit to circulate to talent buyers. You might be invited to networking mixers or ‘speed dating’ sessions where you have a chance to pitch yourself quickly to multiple agents, festivals, clubs, and other music industry professionals - provide them a printout of your press kit to look over and keep.
