Changing a custom domain

After you’ve set up a custom domain through Bandzoogle, you may want to change it due to a misspelling, a band name change, or another reason.

Registered by Bandzoogle

Bandzoogle offers one free custom domain registration per paid account with website plans. Members on an EPK plan and anyone wishing to register additional domains can do so for an additional domain registration fee, recurring yearly while the account is active. To proceed, please follow the steps below:

  1. From the ‘Edit Content’ tab, click your username initials in the top right corner
  2. Select ‘Account Details’ from the drop-down menu
  3. In the ‘Domain manager’ section, click ‘Add new domain’
  4. Click ‘Register new domain’
  5. Enter the domain name of your choice
    • Include the domain extension you'd like. Options: .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .name*
  6. Click ‘Check Availability’
    • If that specific custom domain is not available to be registered, you will see a ‘Sorry, not available’ message. You can enter a new domain until you find an available option. (Example: Instead of ‘myband.com’ try ‘mybandmusic.com’ or ‘mybandofficial.com’)
    • If available, you will see an ‘Available’ message.
  7. Click ‘Register this domain’
  8. On the next screen, click ‘Register mybandname.com and follow the prompts in the Stripe checkout portal to complete payment for the registration (if applicable)

After the payment is received, the new domain will be added to your account.

Notes:

  • If you’d like to remove the original custom domain on your account, follow the ‘Removing a domain’ steps below. Removing the domain will automatically set the new domain as ‘primary’ so Bandzoogle will renew it moving forward, as long as your membership is active.

Registered externally It’s not possible to change an existing domain through the ‘Account Details’ tab. Instead, you will need to remove the externally-registered domain, then add the correct one. Please see removal steps below.

Removing a domain

Removing a domain name from your account means that domain will no longer load your website. This would also terminate any email service that is in place through the domain in your account.

Removing a primary domain It’s not possible to remove a primary domain through the ‘Account Details’ tab. To do this, please contact our support team from the ‘Help’ tab in your account or by emailing [email protected].

Note: If you remove all domains on your account, your website will default to the Bandzoogle subdomain URL assigned to your website during the free setup proccess (example: projectname.bandzoogle.com).

Removing a secondary or additional domain

  1. From the ‘Edit Content’ tab, click your username initials in the top right corner
  2. Select ‘Account Details’ from the drop-down menu
  3. In the ‘Domain manager’ section, click the ‘...’ in the 'Actions' column next to the domain you’d like to delete
  4. Select the 'Delete' option

Note: This will remove the domain and it will stop loading your website immediately. It will also terminate domain registration renewal and any email service in place through the domain in your account.

Warning: If you have domain-based email addresses in your account and you remove the domain, email inboxes will be removed and cannot be recovered.
