A website's menu is a key navigation tool that helps visitors explore and access different sections of your site. The menu provides a list of links that guide users to important pages, such as Home, About, Contact, and more. A well-organized menu improves user experience by making it easy for visitors to find the information they're looking for quickly and efficiently. Your menu can be customized by adjusting the font, color, and positioning.

Pages and subpages

When organizing your website's menu, it's important to understand the difference between pages and subpages to create a clear and easy-to-navigate structure.

  • Pages: Pages (or "main pages") are the main sections of your website and are visible in the top-level navigation menu unless the 'Visibility' setting is turned off or it is a 'Landing page'. These are the core areas visitors will access from your menu.
  • Subpages: Subpages, on the other hand, are additional pages that branch off from a main page. They are typically used to organize more detailed content that doesn't need to be displayed immediately in your main navigation menu. They will appear in a drop-down menu under a main page when it's hovered over.

Adding/removing menu items

You can add or remove items from your menu by creating new pages or deleting existing ones.

To add a new page to your menu, follow these steps:

  1. Click on your 'Edit Content' tab
  2. Click the 'Pages' button on the left of the screen
  3. Click 'Add a page'

To remove a page from your menu, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the 'Edit Content' tab
  2. Click the 'Pages' button on the left of the screen
  3. Click the cog icon next to a page name to open its settings screen
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the settings screen and click the 'Delete page' button

Customizing your menu font and font color

To change the font and font size used in your website's menu, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the 'Edit Theme' tab
  2. Scroll down in the control panel on the left to the 'Menu' section
  3. Click on 'Menu Font' to expand the controls
  4. Use the 'Menu Font' drop-down to select your font.

    Note: If on the Pro plan, you can upload a custom font here to use with your menu

  5. Adjust the 'Font Size' slider to change the font size of your menu

To change the font color of your menu, follow these steps:

  1. From your 'Edit Theme' tab, scroll down to the “Menu' controls and adjust the font color settings: Menu font color: Adjust the color of your menu font. Suggested pages to include on your music website

We recommend having no more than 8 essential pages on your site. These pages are designed to cover all the key information about you or your band without overwhelming your audience.

Here's a breakdown of the 8 essential pages and the type of content they should include:

Home: Your homepage is the first impression visitors will have of your website. It should feature a brief introduction, a high-quality image or video, and links to your most important content, such as your latest music, upcoming events, or a featured video.

Bio: Your bio page provides a brief but compelling overview of who you are as an artist or band. Include your musical journey, influences, key accomplishments, and what sets you apart.

Music: Showcase your music by embedding your latest albums, singles, and playlists.

Photos/Videos: This page is a gallery for your visual content. Include high-quality photos from performances, band photoshoots, and behind-the-scenes moments. Embed your latest music videos or video blogs (vlogs) here to keep visitors engaged with your content.

Events: Use the events page to list upcoming shows, tours, or virtual performances.

Store: If you sell merchandise, music, or tickets, your store page is essential.

Press Kit: This page is for media or industry contacts. It should contain your official bio, high-resolution photos, press quotes, music links, and your contact information.

Contact: Make it easy for your website visitors to get in touch with you. Include a simple contact form and list your social media links. If you have a booking agent or press contact, list their details here as well.
